The Holiday Marketing Secret Hiding in Plain Sight (on Amazon)
Papermate is part of Newell Brands, a $4 billion powerhouse that owns household names like Rubbermaid, Dymo, Coleman, Sharpie, and more.
And they’ve got a simple yet brilliant holiday trick up their sleeve: adding red ribbons to their products. Ever thought of giving pens as a gift? Probably not. But now, maybe you have.
It might seem gimmicky, but here’s the thing… It works.
That little ribbon does more than just make their listing pop on the Amazon search results page. It changes the way people think about everyday items. All of a sudden, a pen set feels like a thoughtful stocking stuffer.
Here’s the best part. You can easily do this for your own listings, even if your listing isn’t something people typically consider “giftable”
How to do it for yourself?
ProductPinion has released a Holiday Bundle packed with over 100 festive PNGs you can easily add to your Amazon main image (and way more than just ribbons)
These assets make it easy to make your images stand out and boost your traffic to your listings during the busiest shopping season.
Orlando, FL is pretty far north… brrr!

We are not at the beach for the rest of the year!
Part of our agreement when we sold our place we agreed to move out for the holidays so the landlord can rent it out for big money during the holidays.  Since Marsha‘s Mom winters in Orlando, we figured might as well head there a little early and save some rent.  The boys can do school online and with so many holidays this time of the year it wasn’t many days for them to be online.
The downfall of being here is we don’t check on the house building daily but get weekly updates from the builder, who takes awesome drone photos so it’s really not that bad!

Level Up Your Tax Strategy: Smart Year-End Moves (From Me, a CPA)
(for Canadians)
I know taxes suck, but there’s still time to make them work in your favor before the year ends. For most individuals and sole proprietors, December 31 marks the tax year cutoff. If you’re running a corporation, your fiscal year-end might differ, so adjust these tips accordingly. The goal? Strategically plan your expenses now to reduce your taxable income and ultimately lower your tax bill.
I like paying less money to the government, don’t you?
What You Can Expense:
  • Fixed Assets: Big-ticket items like computers, packaging machines, office furniture, printers, cell phones, or even that ergonomic desk chair you’ve been eyeing. If it’s for business, it’s eligible.
  • Business Supplies: Think shipping materials, office supplies, or software subscriptions. Pro tip: Prepay annual software fees to maximize deductions this year.
  • Training and Education: Boost your skills with courses like my OA Masterclass or GST Course—they’re tax-deductible and level up your business game. Don’t forget about business-related books, too.
  • Employee Bonuses/Benefits: The CRA allows up to $500 worth of gift cards per employee as a non-taxable benefit. You can also expense holiday parties for staff and directors. More details here: CRA Guide.
What You Can’t Count on to Reduce your Taxes:
  • Inventory Purchases: Stocking up doesn’t lower your taxable income since it is only expensed when it is sold.  More inventory just increases your assets.
  • Personal Expenses: Keep it out of the company.
Other things to Consider
  • Shareholder loans: if you took money out of your company you need to plan to issue dividends or salary or repay it.
  • Income: If you need personal income now is the time to take it out to make sure it gets on your personal income taxes.  This is common if you might be trying to get loans or credit.
  • Inventory: Don’t forget to count it at year end what is in warehouses, in transit and anywhere else!
Review your bookkeeping to see if there are other expenses you regularly have that maybe you can pay now.
If you need some help sorting out your bookkeeping drop me a line…I’m kinda good at that and can help you get caught up.
The Gold Standard for A/B SAAS Companies: ProductPinion
Unsure what A/B testing software to choose? You’re going to have to get up pretty early in the morning to beat ProductPinion.
Here are 5 reasons it’s better than PickFu or Intellivy.
1) It’s the cheapest by far. For the average tester, you’re going to be paying 2-3x less per month then other software programs. Why? ProductPinion has no cost for adding attributes to your test.
2) Bonuses (and penalties) for test-takers. If you find a response by someone extremely helpful or good, you can recommend them and they will actually get paid a bonus. Conversely, if an answer isn’t helpful, you can flag it. If the test-taker gets 3 of these, they’re out forever. It’s a system that helps ensure the best responders.
3) Custom audiences. Use your own custom audience – from your own e-mail list or current customer base, and you won’t pay any per response fees.
4) Video responses from test-takers. Customers record a video explaining which image they like best in your A/B test. You get to listen & watch – the things people say are different then what they type (and often more illuminating).
5) Poll people in over 200 countries. While other programs only give you at most 7 countries to poll from, ProductPinion lets you poll people in hundreds of countries around the world. Example: I’m launching a product in Germany and I want to know what native Germans think about it!
Let me be clear – if you’re using ANY of these software programs, you’re already winning because you’re A/B testing. And ALL have unique offerings & plusses and minuses.
And to the surprise of nobody, ProductPinion wins the Golden Seller Awards
Were you emotionally present during BFCM? 😂

Three Awesome Hacks You Haven’t Heard Before
Your hotel room is not as secure as you think
1) Did people come into my hotel room? Tape a hair to the door really low and across the frame – if it’s broken, someone went in.
2) How to be first in line @ the car rental place after a flight: Be the last person on the shuttle bus. Actively help others get their luggage on first and get off last. You’ll be first at the counter. Bingo.
3) Travel frequently? Try and stick with one hotel chain, you’ll get more accumulated points.
Let Marco Handle It (Get Locals to Negotiate for you)
We all need a “Marco” in our life.
We’re building a house (remember?). The general contractor runs the show, managing labor and supplies. We pay for everything, and they take a cut for oversight.
Then there’s Marco. He’s the guy who gets quotes and haggles like his life depends on it. Marsha’s a great negotiator, but Marco? He’s in a league of his own. He talks fast, loud, and in Spanish. All I catch is: “Buddy, I can’t do that. They won’t pay that. I’ll find another supplier if you can’t give me a deal. I’ve got more houses lined up. Don’t miss this business.”
One of our contractors put it best: “As soon as they hear my accent, the price doubles.”
With Marco, that doesn’t happen. He knows the game, knows the players, and knows how to win. Tile, air conditioning, appliances—everything runs through him. Suppliers expect some haggling, but Marco takes it further. He pushes, presses, and gets results.
The trick? Be ready to buy when he lands the deal. When Marco works his magic, it’s time to act.
Brett Bartlett Behind Bars (finally)
Well.. they got him. Finally.
Many of you might remember Brett Bartlett from the My Silent Team and Jim Cockrum days. It’s how I actually got my start doing Private Label (thanks guys! Lol).
A couple days ago, Brett was finally taken down.
He was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in prison. He defrauded over 1,000 investors through false promises of high returns. Bartlett used companies like Dynasty Toys to mislead, taking millions for personal gain. Victims lost over $22.5 million. He was ordered to pay it back and will face three years of supervised release after prison.
Let’s just take a step back and thank the Justice System for working. Secondly, there are no shortcuts in life. And certainly not with your Amazon business.
