welcome to the island

Where the work fits the life.
Not the other way around.

The kind of person who turns up here has already done the math.

The default never felt right,
and freedom was always the point.

If you're an aspiring digital nomad or online seller, welcome home. Stay as long as you like or just wander the map.

The Map
the map

Seven regions. One small island.

Each region is a topic we keep showing up for — Amazon, DTC, finance, mindset, travel, lifestyle, taxes. Tap any region to wander inside. You'll find useful newsletters, guides, and working notes.

If you've ever quietly known the default
wasn't built for you, you're already half
a local.

how this island came to be

It started as a question, then became a place.

The question was simple: what if the work didn't have to live in an office? What if a business could fit a life, instead of a life having to fit a business?

The answer turned into Playa Conchal, on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Rob and Marsha — both former KPMG accountants — left the firm, packed up Canada, and built the rest one piece at a time. Two boys, Jackson and Chase, raised mostly barefoot. Amazon brands that ran without a desk. Jones & Cosman CPA, the accounting firm Canadian e-commerce sellers send their friends to. Selling on Amazon from the Beach (Rob’s book) a few thousand sellers passed around because nobody had written the honest beginner version yet. A newsletter that read like a friend writing to a friend, never a marketer writing to a list. A small Facebook room of operators who didn't sell each other anything.

Eventually it got crowded enough to need a map. So we drew one. Open the island map →

the unspoken rule

Ask them anything. You won't get a sales pitch.

No course funnel waiting at the end of a reply. No "book a strategy call." No drip sequence designed to soften you up for the upsell. If you write in with a real question, you'll get a real answer — sometimes a paragraph, sometimes a Loom, never a pitch.

That's the deal. They reply to most emails. Not every one. They're allowed to nap.

Drop us a line

The tools to build a free life have never been more accessible.
The bottleneck isn't the technology.
It's attention, curiosity, and the willingness to take the long way around.

the books

Two playbooks for the same life-first business.

Selling on Amazon from the Beach is Rob's starter kit for new sellers who want to build a real business without being chained to a desk. Quietly passed around the FBA community as the honest beginner guide that doesn't skip the boring parts.

Living the Digital Nomad Dream is Marsha's counterpart. Stories, strategy, and finances from twelve years of running a family and a business from the Costa Rican coast.

I trust Rob with all aspects of this business. He knows what he's talking about. I have been a seller for 4 years and I would say a lot of my success is because of him.Colin L.
