5 Ways to increase AOV (Average Order Value)
on your DTC Site
Check out this post from Bryan Porter of Simple Modern. They mainly  sell water bottles & tumblers. Here’s how he increased the AOV of his products in the last 4 years:
TL;DR
  1. Raise free shipping threshold: Free shipping after $50
  2. Reduced promo codes: Email/SMS receive codes, not Amazon customers (too many tire-kickers)
  3. Discounts for bigger cart value: $10 off @ $100 and $20 off at $150
  4. Limited edition premium releases: high-value limited releases
  5. Increase ASP (average sale price) through product mix: launch new products at higher retails – easier in style driven categories.

What’s Going on at the Beach?
We have some ground breaking news to report! We have broken ground this week building our new house (sorry 😂)!
The design and permits are done, and we have chosen a construction company.
The house is marked out on the land, and the earthmoving has started. Because our land is on a hill, we need to dig and level it.
Things are finally moving forward, with an estimated build time of one year.
Sooo… when are you coming to visit?

Dayparting + Chat GPT = The 100% Best Time to Advertise
I had ChatGPT 4.o analyze my complete Dayparting trends from my hero ASIN.
My goal? Find the most optimal time to run ads based on PPC and organic conversion rate, ROI & margin.
I uploaded the csv files from Scale Insights and then used this prompt:
I want to maximize the effectiveness of my advertising campaigns by pausing them at times when sales might not be optimal.

Non-optimal sales include:

-Higher than normal ACOS
-Lower than normal conversion rate and PPC conversion rate
-Lower than normal ROI & Margin

Can you please come up with a dayparting schedule based on the data and help me optimize my campaigns?
The Result?
A Complete Dayparting Schedule:
Monday:
Turn Ads On: 6 AM – 6 PM
Turn Ads Off: 7 PM – 5 AM

A Super Sneaky Hotel Cancellation Hack
Need to cancel your hotel reservation less than 24 hours before you are supposed to arrive?
It happens. Unfortunately a lot of hotels charge a cancellation fee.
Check out this tip from @caspercapital.
TL;DR
If your hotel is trying to charge you a cancellation fee, change the arrival date to the following week. Then, hang up, call back, and cancel. Bingo.

Things You Didn’t Know About Paradise
The good, the bad, the f***ing great.
We’re building a home in paradise!
When you’re out getting quotes for a big project, it’s super important to do your due dilligence. A big part of that is getting quotes from more than one vendor.
We ended up with four quotes to build our home:
  • Builder #1 was eager, but had a confusing plan and charged a lot
  • Builder #2 was cheaper and clearer, but had too many errors in their contract
  • Builders #3 and #4 had middling quotes but were more accurate in their communication & contract.
Eventually we chose Builder #3 because they were building a home a few doors down.
In a nutshell, it’s exactly the same as it would be at back in Canada. Some good, some bad, some ugly.
But it got me thinking about sourcing products to sell on Amazon – it’s important to vet & explore different suppliers. Ask yourself – what’s important to you? Is it price alone? Or speed? Communication style?
Once you have what really matters to you nailed down, you can move forward with the vendor that fits your needs best.
Whether you’re building your home or sourcing products, it’s the same basic idea.
